Most peripherals at Nexus — printers, monitors, headsets, docks — are standard and easy to set up. Here’s how to do it safely and get it working.
Before you start
- Check the network resources inventory for the device name and details.
- Make sure you have a free, matching port (or the right dock) and the cables you need.
- Check leads for damage before plugging anything in.
Connecting a network printer
- On your computer, choose Add a printer.
- Pick the printer by its name from the inventory (e.g. PR-14-02).
- Let it install the approved driver, then print a test page.
- If it doesn’t appear, check you’re on the Nexus network and try again, or see printer troubleshooting.
Connecting a monitor or dock
- Connect the cable firmly — don’t force it.
- If the screen stays blank, check the input source and that the cable is fully seated.
- Adjust height and angle for a comfortable view (see workstation ergonomics).
Safety
- Don’t overload power outlets or daisy-chain power boards.
- Route cables so they aren’t a trip hazard.
- Report any damaged equipment and tag it out of use.
When to log a ticket
If a device won’t connect after the basic checks, or needs new hardware or a licence, log a Service Desk ticket — don’t attempt internal repairs.
