Purpose
“Organisational requirements” are simply the rules and standards we all work to at Nexus Group. This guide explains where those requirements come from, how to find the right one, and how to apply it to a real situation.
Where our requirements come from
- Policies — what we will and won’t do (e.g. Code of Conduct, Privacy, WHS).
- Procedures — the steps for doing something the agreed way (e.g. Finance & Transactions, Approval Procedure).
- Standards — the level we work to (see Business standards).
- Lawful and reasonable instructions — directions from your manager that fit your role.
- Position profiles — what your role covers and its limits of authority (position profiles).
Finding the right requirement
- Search the portal for the topic (policies, procedures and guides are all indexed).
- Browse the policy library by category.
- Check your position profile for what you can decide and when to escalate.
- If you can’t find it or it’s unclear, ask your supervisor — don’t assume.
Applying it to a situation
When something comes up:
- Work out what kind of situation it is (safety, money, a customer, information, conduct…).
- Find the relevant requirement and read the part that applies.
- Act within your authority — do what your role allows; escalate the rest.
- Record what you did where a record is needed.
- If two requirements seem to conflict, or you’re unsure, check before you act.
Following instructions
Follow lawful and reasonable instructions from your supervisor. If an instruction seems unsafe, unfair or against a policy, raise it respectfully with your supervisor or People & Culture rather than ignoring it — see Employee Rights & Responsibilities.
Why it matters
Following our requirements keeps people safe, treats customers and colleagues fairly, protects information, and keeps Nexus Group running well. If you’re ever unsure which rule applies, it’s always better to ask.
