Sustainability obligations

What’s expected of us when it comes to the environment — in plain English, for everyone at Nexus Group.

Why this matters

Like every Australian workplace, Nexus Group is expected to manage its environmental impact responsibly — using resources carefully, disposing of waste correctly and avoiding pollution. Meeting these expectations protects the environment, keeps us in line with our obligations, and supports the communities we work in.

General workplace responsibilities

  • Use energy, water, paper and materials efficiently and avoid unnecessary waste.
  • Separate and dispose of waste correctly, including recycling and e-waste.
  • Handle and store any chemicals or substances safely so they don’t harm people or the environment.
  • Prevent spills and leaks, and clean up or report them promptly.
  • Report environmental hazards and incidents so they can be fixed.

What Nexus Group expects of everyone

  • Follow the Sustainability & Environment policy and local site procedures.
  • Switch off lights and equipment when not needed, especially after hours.
  • Print only what you need, double-sided, and recycle paper.
  • Use the correct bins and keep recycling free of contamination.
  • Send IT equipment to e-waste — never to general rubbish or storage.
  • Speak up about waste, inefficiency or anything that could harm the environment.

Standards we work to

In plain terms, we aim to: meet the environmental requirements that apply to our operations; reduce waste, energy and water use year on year; recycle and reuse wherever practical; and continuously improve how we work. Our targets and monthly data show how we’re tracking, and the Sustainability Working Group reviews progress.

If you’re not sure

If you’re unsure how to dispose of something, or you spot a problem, ask the Sustainability Coordinator or Facilities, or report it through the hazard form. It’s always better to check than to guess.
