Recruitment & Selection

How Nexus Group hires fairly and on merit.

Purpose

This policy ensures we attract and select the best people through a fair, consistent and merit-based process that reflects our commitment to equal employment opportunity.

Principles

  • Merit — we select the person whose skills, experience and potential best match the role.
  • Fairness — every applicant is treated consistently and respectfully.
  • Transparency — selection criteria are clear and applied to all candidates.
  • Confidentiality — applicant information is handled in line with our Privacy policy.

The process

  1. Approval — the hiring manager confirms the role, budget and position description.
  2. Advertise — roles are advertised internally and, where appropriate, externally. We encourage internal applicants and applications from underrepresented groups.
  3. Shortlist — applications are assessed against the selection criteria by at least two people.
  4. Interview — a panel (ideally diverse) asks each candidate the same core questions and scores responses against the criteria.
  5. Checks — we complete reference checks and any role-specific checks (e.g. a Working with Children Check or police check for Nexus Care roles).
  6. Offer — the preferred candidate receives a written offer; unsuccessful candidates are advised respectfully and offered feedback.

Talent & Recruitment

The Talent & Recruitment Lead (Raj Patel) supports managers throughout hiring and maintains our applicant records and templates. Contact People & Culture to start a recruitment request.

New starters

Once an offer is accepted, the manager and People & Culture arrange induction and IT setup (see New starter IT setup) so the new employee is ready for a great first day.
