Purpose
Nexus Group supports flexible work that helps people balance their work and personal lives while meeting the needs of our customers and teams. This policy explains the options available and how to request them.
Types of flexibility
Depending on your role, flexible options may include:
- Flexible hours — varying start and finish times.
- Hybrid work — splitting time between a Nexus site and home.
- Part-time or job share — reduced or shared hours.
- Compressed weeks — working full-time hours across fewer days.
- Purchased leave — buying additional leave through salary arrangements.
Not every option suits every role — for example, store, distribution and care roles need people on site — but we’ll always consider requests fairly.
Requesting flexibility
- Think about what you need and how the work will still get done.
- Discuss your idea with your manager and submit a request in writing.
- Your manager will respond within 21 days, and can only refuse on reasonable business grounds, with reasons given.
Eligible employees (for example, parents, carers, employees with disability, and those experiencing family violence) have a right to request flexible arrangements under the National Employment Standards.
Working well in a hybrid team
- Agree core hours and how the team will stay connected.
- Keep your calendar and status up to date.
- Make sure you have a safe home work set-up (see Work Health & Safety).
- Protect Nexus information when working remotely (see IT Security & Acceptable Use).
Review
Flexible arrangements are reviewed regularly to make sure they still work for you, your team and our customers.
