Safety signs guide

The common safety signs you’ll see around our sites and what they mean. Knowing them helps you act quickly and stay safe.

Emergency exit

Green means safe. Shows the way out and the direction to the nearest exit.

Above doors, along corridors and stairwells.

First aid

A white cross on green marks first aid kits and first aid points.

Kitchens, reception and near first aid officers.

Fire equipment

Red marks fire equipment — extinguishers, hose reels and alarms.

Near exits and along main walkways.

Wet / slippery floor

Yellow triangle warns of a slip hazard. Slow down and take care.

Kitchens, entries and recently cleaned areas.

Electrical hazard

Warns of electrical risk. Keep clear and don’t open panels.

Comms rooms, switchboards and risers.

Manual handling

Reminds you to lift safely — plan, bend your knees, get help.

Stores, archives and the distribution centre.

Restricted access

A red circle means no entry or authorised staff only.

Plant rooms, docks and secure areas.
